About the artist

Meggy Rustamova(1985, Tbilisi, Georgia) lives and works in Brussels and Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. She obtained her MA in Fine Arts at KASK School of Arts and completed a post-academic residency at HISK in Ghent (BE). Her practice embodies experimental film, photography, performance and sound installations. Her work has been presented amongst others at: Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna (AT), Beursschouwburg, Brussels (BE), 6th Moscow Biennale, Moscow (RU), Bureau des Réalités, Brussels (BE), Belluard Bollwerk International festival, Fribourg (CH), Salzburger Kunstverein, Salzburg, (AT), 55th October Salon, Belgrade (SRB), Savvy Contemporary, Berlin (DE) and Project Arts Centre, Dublin (IE).

Meggy Rustamova (1985, Tbilisi, Gruzija) živi in ustvarja med Brusljem in Sint-Niklaasom v Belgiji. Zaključila je magistrski študij na belgijski Kraljevi akademiji za likovno umetnost KASK, na inštitutu HISK v Ghentu pa kasneje zaključila še podiplomski rezidenčni program. V svoji umetniški praksi združuje film, fotografijo, performans in zvočne instalacije. Nejna dela so bila razstavljena na številnih razstaviščih, med drugim v Kunsthalle Wien, Dunaj (Avstrija), Beursschouwburg, Bruselj (Belgija), 6. Moskovski bienale, Moskva (Rusija), Bureau des Réalités, Bruselj (Belgija), Belluard Bollwerk International festival, Fribourg (Švica), Salzburger Kunstverein, Salzburg, (Avstrija), 55. Oktobrski salon, Beograd (Srbija), Savvy Contemporary, Berlin (Nemčija) ter Project Arts Centre, Dublin (Irska).

M.A.M. (My Assyrian Mother) is a double portrait, starting as a silent portrayal of two similarly dressed woman, obviously related, and differenced in age. Suddenly a discussion develops about the framing and their position within the image.
