About the artists

Maša Jazbec graduated in fine arts from the Faculty of Education, University of Maribor, under the mentorship of professor Dušan Zidar. She continued her post-graduate studies at the department of Interface Culture, University of Arts and Design Linz (Austria). During her study she completed a residency program at the Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences IAMAS (Japan). As part of her doctorate studies at Empowerment Informatics, University of Tsukuba, Japan, she was a visiting researcher at ATR (Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International / Hiroshi Ishiguro Laboratories).

In 2018, Maša Jazbec was a member of the expert jury of the Golden Nice, awarded by the Ars Electronica festival in Linz. Since 2013, she has been co-creating the new media culture festival Speculum Artium in Trbovlje (Slovenia). Her art projects have been presented on intermedia platforms, such as Ars Electronica, Athens Media Art Festival, Lab30, Tsukuba Media Art Festival, ISEA, Speculum Artium, MFRU, Kiblix, Sonica and ArtStays. She presented her work in the form of lectures at the University of California Los Angeles – Design Media Arts Department, School of Integrative and Global Majors Tokyo Forum, Rhizomatiks Research – Flying Tokyo Event, Large Space Tsukuba Opening Symposium, Rikkyo University Tokyo, Sonica Artist Talk and TEDx. Her scientific research work has been presented as part of expert conferences such as CHI 2016, Consciousness Reframed 2016, ISEA 2017, Human robot Interaction 2017 and Systems Man and Cybernetics 2017. She currently lives and works between Trbovlje and Linz.

Medsebojne Interakcije / Interpersonal Interactions

Razsežnosti znanstveno – umetnostnega polja na področju robotike oziroma bolj natančno androidne znanosti so večslojne. Android, za razliko od industrijskega robota, predstavlja novo vsebino in dodano vrednost znotraj polja robotike. Android, kot artificielno telo, mimetično podoben človeškemu, združen s tehnološkimi principi upravljanja deluje kot ogromen in zapleten sistem. Telo homo sapiensa postaja artefakt. Prezentiran je kot nenehen umetelen ritual. Naravno telo postaja umetno skonstruirano telo. Minljivost postaja fizično – materialno dejstvo.

S projektom Medsebojne Interakcije raziskujemo notranjosti od zunaj in vračanja k sebi s tehnologijo, ki zrcali sodobni človeški fizis – hibrid, sodobni posthumani objekt. Z vse večjo kompleksnostjo tehnologije vedno bolj izginjajo meje med naravnim in umetnim, notranjim in zunanjim in strojem in človekom. Razlike med rojenim in narejenim se prepletajo. Evolucija umetnega vzpostavlja nov princip sodobne posthumane mitologije. Hibridnost se kaže kot nova artikulacija sodobnikovega bivanja. Z možnostmi, ki nam jih ponuja sodobna tehnologija (virtualni svetovi, umetno življenje, biogenetika, kibernetika, …), se zdi, kot da je organsko telo le še vzorec neke pretekle zgodovine, ostanek borbe med mislijo in telesom, skratka artefakt, ki nas opozarja na omejeno privrženost naravi.

Študija je bila delno opravljena na inštitutu ATR (Advanced Telecommunication Research Institute International) v laboratoriju Profesorja Hiroshi Ishiguro, Kyoto, Japonska, 2016-2017
