Dragica Čadež Lapajne (Slovenia)

About the artist

Dragica Čadež Lapajne (1940, Ljubljana) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, specializing in sculpture under the mentorship of Professor Boris Kalin (1965). She taught sculpture as Full Professor at the Faculty of Education, Ljubljana. Since 1963 she has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions home and abroad. She was one of the initiators of the International Ceramic Triennial UNICUM. Her works have won several awards and recognitions, among them the Prešeren Fund Award for sculpture, and the title of Professor Emeritus. She is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (AIC). Her works form part of numerous public and private collections. Her monograph The Story of a Tree was published in 2010. She lives and works in Ljubljana.

Tihožitje – roke

Gradivo, ki ga je avtorica  izbrala za svojo novo kiparsko zgodbo, je kombinacija njej ljubih materialov – lesa in gline. Njena pomensko-vizualna izraznost temelji na  naravnih oblikah, kot so  odtisi rok in embalaža, združeni v premišljeno postavitev, kjer se posamezni segmenti smiselno sestavljajo v strnjen opus. Tihožitje predstavlja aktualno tematiko potrošniške družbe in zavedanje izgube osnovnih vrednot.
