About the artists
Annette Schmid searches for new potentials of human interaction with their environment. Her media installations connect and question virtual and physical spaces.
She is a conceptualist and works with multidisciplinary teams.
Veerle Pennock (1993) is a hardware-hacker, constructor and researcher currently based in The Hague, The Netherlands. Her interests lay in art, machines, technology and the ongoing interaction between digital and analogue methodologies.
Starting from a deep fascination for how machines and objects work and function on the inside. She wanted to gain more control about machines and see if they could be manipulated or hacked to serve as an artistic medium and tool for expression. In her work there is always a perceptible tension between human and machine interaction by involving the user through experience.
Her current research and work conducted during her Master ArtScience is focused on the man-machine relationship, cyborgs, tools, alienated apparatus and most importantly, what kind of relationship do we want to have in the future?

Smell-o-mask
SMELL-O-MASK is a speculative prototype of a wearable smell-printer-mask that lets you connect to another place, via your nose. As surgical masks are quite common in Asia to protect from air pollution, this project aims to enhance this everyday object to become a device for creating olfactory alternative realities. For example you could be connected to your favorite forest, while walking through the streets in a grey megastructure.
